The Uplifting Power of Family and Friends: A Reflection on Easter Weekend

Did you know that your mood can actually improve just by spending time with your family and friends? Yes it’s true. At Integrative Healthcare Solutions, we talk a lot about the different tools that support mental health—therapy, medication, exercise, mindfulness. But today, I was reminded of something just as powerful: connection. The quality of your life is based on the quality of your relationships. I often tell my children and my clients “be around people who love you.” Human connection can lower stress hormones, improve mood, and give us a renewed sense of meaning.
Almost every client I saw today shared something similar—they felt happier, lighter, and more hopeful over the past few days. What made the difference? It wasn’t a new medication or a breakthrough in therapy. It was spending time with their families and friends over the Easter weekend.
Whether it was a big family dinner, a quiet conversation with a loved one, or just watching children hunt for eggs, the joy of being together made them happy. I could see it in their smiles and hear it in their stories. This made my heart happy. Social networks matter.
If you’re struggling with depression, anxiety, or feeling disconnected, we’re here to help you build a path toward wholeness; not just with medications and talk therapy. We want to help you reconnect with your support system.
As you move through this week, consider how you might carve out even a little time for the people who make your heart happy. And if you need support finding that light again, we’re just a phone call away.
