Cortisol, often referred to as the “stress hormone” is released from the adrenal glands in response to stress. In today’s fast-paced world, we all experience stress. While some stress is a normal part of life, too much stress can lead to significant health issues, including depression and anxiety.
When faced with a stressful situation, such as a breakup, financial troubles, deadlines, work, relationships, school, etc., cortisol levels increase. Chronic stress can lead to increased cortisol production, which may alter brain function and cause a decline in your mental health.

Mood problems: stress, anxiety, depression, or just plain moody
